  Climate change is a significant and emerging threat to public health, and changes the way we must look at protecting vulnerable populations. It already contributes to the global burden of disease, and this contribution is expected to grow in the future. 

• Baku Women Journalists Explore Issues on the UN Agenda

  The information session organized by the UN DPI in Azerbaijan on 9 April 2008 and conducted in close cooperation with the national Association of Women Journalists, brought together around twenty journalists from various TV and Radio stations, newspapers and news agencies.

  Being surrounded by curious eyes and answering so many questions posed by students of this oldest and biggest university of Azerbaijan, made one feel that the United Nations, as the premier international body, not only plays an important role in its activities, but also still remains a trustworthy ally in many hearts.

  The film set off an open dialogue and turned the screening into a learning opportunity, not just about the world global challenges, but about languages subtleties as well; especially useful for those students eager to sharpen their skills for not-very-often-used UN language and political terminology in general. 

• Strengthening the Azerbaijani family by women’s empowerment

  Prior to International Women's Day 2008, the main focus of a variety of activities in Azerbaijan was to involve local media in raising awareness within the society regarding family values, the role of women as a main cell in the family and society, working towards changing the existing stereotypes, and introducing women as equal partners within the family and in the professional world.
